Why the trip is worth it
Lake Haltern is one of the loveliest destinations in the western Münsterland: plenty of water, nature and calm, and easy to reach from Münster. Most fun as a full day trip: a boat tour, the lido and a cosy spot on the shore.
What you can do at Lake Haltern
- ●Go boating at Bootshaus Niehues: pedal boat, kayak or canoe, no licence at all.
- ●Cycle a loop around the lake, the shore paths are lovely for riding and strolling.
- ●Unwind on the shore, with a picnic or an ice cream.
- ●Enjoy the sunset over the water, a beautiful sight from the bank.
Getting there and parking
From Münster, Lake Haltern is an easy drive, plan for about 38 minutes. There is parking near the boathouse at the lake. Just enter „Bootshaus Niehues, Aalweg 11, Haltern am See" into your navigation.
