🕐 Best time

What's the best time of day to go boating on Lake Haltern?

You can go boating almost all day, but some times are especially lovely and relaxed. Here is our experience.

Mornings are calmest

In the morning the lake is usually calmest, both for wind and for crowds. The water is often mirror-smooth, which makes going out easy and relaxed. If you like it quiet, come early.

In the afternoon the wind often picks up

Over the course of the afternoon the wind often increases a little. That's no problem, but it makes paddling a kayak or SUP noticeably harder. Pedal boats are least bothered by wind.

Evening mood and sunset (on request)

For many it's loveliest in the evening: the light turns warm and golden, the lake grows calmer and the mood is wonderful. But note: we normally rent until 7 pm. For real evening and sunset trips it's best to call ahead, that can often be arranged on request.

Whether today's trip is worth it, you can always check live on our boat weather page, including today's sunset time.
