The relaxed loop: the Stever and the lake
For an easy tour you head a little way up the Stever and once around the lake, past the lido and the excursion boat „Möwe". A lovely, simple route that works with any boat: pedal boat, kayak or canoe. Ideal if you just want to glide relaxed across the water.
The grand tour: through the Mühlenbach to the Sythen mill
For explorers this is the loveliest route: through the Mühlenbach, which is partly narrow, shallow and overgrown, a real little nature adventure where a tree may sometimes lie in the water. At the end you can moor at the mill in Sythen.
Important: this tour only works with a canoe or paddle boat. For pedal boats the Mühlenbach is partly too shallow, they won't make the stretch to the mill.
A stop at „Zur Kajüte"
Right in front of the entrance to the Mühlenbach lies the Prinzensteg sailing club with the „Zur Kajüte" restaurant. There you can moor and eat and drink with a view of the lake. Sometimes there is even live music or other events. A nice stop before you head into the quiet Mühlenbach.
A break at the Sythen mill
At the mill in Sythen you can stop, eat something at Hotel Pfeiffer and rest before heading back. Right there is Sythen Castle too, worth a look. For a visit it's best to call ahead or be lucky that it's open. In about five minutes on foot you're also in the middle of Sythen.
Plan enough time
The grand tour is no quick trip: one way takes a good two hours at an easy paddle, and you have to come back too. So it is best to plan half a day to a whole day, a day ticket is worth it here. In return you experience quite different scenery on one tour: the open Stever, the wide reservoir, the enchanted Mühlenbach and Sythen Castle at the end. Really a lot of nature and variety.
